How do we know we are meant to have plant sterols in our diet?
Moducare contains ß-sitosterol and ß-sitosterolin. We can demonstrate the importance of these two plant sterols in our diet by looking at the genetic code; the actual blue print of our body. The genetic code is present in a chemical form called DNA. DNA is stored in each cell as chromosomes. The chromosomes are similar to an architect's plan for the construction, renewal and repair of our body. Today, scientists can unravel this complex blueprint and see exactly how our bodies are designed. To the left you will see a complete picture of the 23 chromosome pairs found in a healthy individual. Chromosome number two second from top left (blue) is the one we are interested in. Look to the right and you will see an expanded image of chromosome number two. The chromosome has active and inactive parts. The active parts contain DNA that can actually tell the body to construct a specific body part. Each active part has its own locus. In this diagram each locus is labelled with a name. Locus 2p21 (not visible here) contains instructions for a specific microscopic body part that has only one function: to regulate the amount of plant sterols that the human body takes from the diet into the blood stream. If the body has enough ß-sitosterol then no more will be absorbed from the diet. If there is too little ß-sitosterol then this specific "channel" will absorb only what is required.
We know about this mainly because there are some individuals that carry a faulty version of the gene on this chromosome and as a result can not regulate the amount of plant sterol they absorb. These people have a disease called sitosteroleamia, and must exclude oily fruit and vegetables (for example avocados and olive oil) from there diet. Thankfully, sitosteroleamia is extremely rare with only a handful of cases have ever been reported in the entire history of modern medicine.
What does this mean to a me?
This is evidence to prove that we humans should have plant sterols such as those found in Moducare, in our diet. Infact there is an actual specific part of our body thats only function is to regulate the amount of plant sterols we have in our body at any one time. Here we have another reason to have more fruit and vegatables in our diet. If you are not sure you are having enough of the important plant sterols in you diet then take a daily supplement of Moducare.
Indeed this means that the dietary components found in Moducare are very safe as your body will only take what it needs from the capsules or lozenges, no more or no less.
